On April 11, 2026 we went to Halifax, NC to celebrate the signing of the Halifax Resolves, the first official action by an entire colony calling for independence from Great Britain, paving the way for the Declaration of Independence just three months later. We are so thankful for the Freedom we have in our country, and it was special to celebrate the birth of our Nation with the grandkids. The re-enactor in the kitchen was very knowledgeable about colonial cooking, gardening, and native flowers. The re-enactors provide demonstrations during the summer on weekends.
