These are my favorite flowers of the year, and I know the photo is out of focus, but I still wanted to share it. This is my third attempt to grow Chinese Forget-me-nots, and I think these were sown last fall and should have bloomed in the spring. But these started blooming in July or August, which is when they should STOP blooming because of the summer heat.
But I am not complaining, and I’m not too surprised that they are not blooming according to plan, because our little Serena who they were planted for did not arrive according to plan. Serena is our granddaughter who is always in our hearts and not forgotten, but we never heard her cry, and never felt her breath.

We don’t know why she was not meant to live even though she was full-term, but we do know that God had a plan for her. He taught me that each life is precious, and we are not guaranteed each pregnancy will end with healthy baby. He also showed us how many people love our family, and brought people from long distances to mourn with us. He showed us how beautiful it is when the body of Christ bears each other’s burdens. My dear daughter in-love was so blessed (and surprised) to learn how many people she knows have lost children, and was comforted to know they understood her grief.

I am so thankful that these forget-me-knots bloomed to help us remember our much loved Serena Faith, and I pray that they reseed and give us more blooms next year. You are remembered every day, and we are thankful for the 9 months we had you with us. ❤️
